Blog: Season 2

And we're back.

I've been gone for a while, let's just say I was on a sabbatical, and lots has changed.

A quick review of the past 570 days:

In science, scientists discovered the Higgs boson and landed on Mars. Other science was also done, which made many people happy. Teleportation (or at the very least, an affordable jetpack) remains uninvented. Marie Curie is still dead.

In politics, politicians continued to do whatever it is politicians do. Barack Obama is President again. Canada also has a leader. Toronto mayor, Rob Ford, generously sacrificed his reputation for a grassroots publicity campaign for the city.

In sports, the Olympics took place in London. Later, the IOC came to the conclusion that wrestling was not a sport after mistakenly including it in the Olympic program for the last 2,788 years. The Toronto Maple Leafs accidentally ended their league-leading playoff drought. They made it halfway through the third period of Game 7 in the first round before they realized their error and graciously ceded to the Boston Bruins.

In technology, technological advances continue at a rate that greatly exceeds my ability to understand technological advances. Google makes a push for world domination. YouTube changes its' interface 15,326 times, Google+ is still a thing (I think), and Google Glass makes wearing glasses even less cool.

In entertainment, the existence of the Internet continues to confuse television network executives, Netflix is awesome, and The Hunger Games suddenly became very, very popular and then very depressing when people got around to reading the third book. Also, PSY released a song called Gangnam Style, which became the most popular thing ever on the Internet.

And other stuff happened too.

So that's what's been going on in the world since I wrote my last post. It seems like a long time ago, because it was. It was a very long time ago. Lots has changed. For example, my age and this blog. The blog has mostly changed by not being a blog anymore, but a graveyard where my ideas have laid dead for many moons. Now it is time for a metaphorical zombie apocalypse, whereby I will reanimate this blog and breathe new life into a dead thing. The blog will be different going forward because I am old now. Mostly, I am planning on writing less formally - in that I won't be using the same structure for each post as I have in the past - but hopefully more frequently than once every 570 days.

Welcome back. Let us resume the pursuit of awesomeness.
