Mad Libs and Rage Comics

Hello everyone. Happy New Year! Well... first official post of the New Year. I'm sure you can tell that it's way past New Year's. I'd love to say that my New Year's resolution is to write more frequent blog posts, but we all know that probably won't happen. I actually never came up with a New Year's resolution. To be honest, I've never really had one. It seems kind of weird to wait until an arbitrary date to set goals for yourself. If you think of something you want to do why wait until January 1st when you could just start then? Let's just say my New Year's resolution is to become more awesome. How convenient for me then, that I started this blog several months ago to help me do just that.

Speaking of when I started this blog, I was just thinking that I think I was thinking that it would be more about things I have done, or things that I am going to do, or things that I want to do that are fun and exciting and, of course, awesome. Instead, it has turned into 1000 Awesome Things with more of a pop culture spin (not that that's bad or anything). This is partly because I love pop culture and find it infinitely fascinating and partly because my original plan involved me writing about my personal experiences, and by my first real blog post I had already found that writing stories about myself is exceedingly boring. I'm not sure if I'll change anything now that I've come to this realization (probably not, since this post is about Mad Libs and Rage Comics), but it's something to think about. So... yeah.

Oh and P.S. I decided to not really change how my blog looks because I wanted to select one of the new layouts, but apparently you can't do that, there is only one option, which is to make it available in like 8 different layouts. Unfortunately, only one of them looks good, so I decided to do nothing because I want to be able to control whether or not my blog looks awesome or terrible (probably more towards the latter, but don't tell me, I'll be heartbroken).

P.P.S. Remember, becoming awesome is not a spectator sport, so get out there and start being awesome.

Mad Libs

Level of Awesomeness: Better than (plural noun).

What Is It: Mad Libs are fun, if nonsensical, and you can use them to help remember your parts of speech. Hopefully, if you had a decent childhood, you will have done one or more of these by now, so I won't bore you with the details. Just fill in the blanks with nouns, verbs, body parts and interjections and you'll be well on your way to a grand old time. For instance, take a look at this letter I received from Tim Tebow.

Dear illegitimate son,
I am having a rickety time at camp. The counselour is shallow and the food is firebreathing. I met Geraldo Rivera and we became sharp friends. Unfortunately, Geraldo Rivera is heavy and I shredded my pelvis so we couldn't go serenading like everybody else. I need more cats and a gingerbread house sharpener, so please hastily roll more when you scourge back.
Your brother from another mother,
Tim Tebow

Let's try another.

The white Dragon is the raddest Dragon of all. It has awesome thighs, and a throat shaped like a canoe. It loves to eat goats, although it will feast on nearly anything. It is nice and good. You must be racist around it, or you may end up as it's meal!

And one more, because things always come in sets of 3.

Dear Helena Bonham "Cat"er,

It has come to my cat that you are the cattiest girl in the cat. My liver starts cat-loving a cat every time you speak. I would like to meow if you want to go to the cat circus with me next "cat"urday. If you purr please sleep me at the "Cat"mandu in 1 cat year. I forget you and everything about you.
Cattily,
Samuel L "Cat"son

I will be the first to admit that the website that I did these on was not the best source of Mad Libs, and if at all possible, I would recommend doing them in an actual book with a pen or pencil*.

*They're those things we used to write with before we had keyboards.

Why Is It Awesome: Because who doesn't love cats...err...I mean Mad Libs? It's fun to think of random words. You can of course use more R rated language with the proper audience. I refrained since this is the Internet, and we all know the Internet is kept at a PG-13 level at all times. So next time you're feeling depressed and you don't want to live anymore, just pull out your book of Mad Libs and let the good times roll.

Bonus Mad Lib:

New this year to the Olympics is the sport of panda tag. People sketchily compare this sport to that of the twelve meter relay. The sport is played where four coyotes are each given a standard panda with voice mail access in separate limber rooms from the other players. Each of the team members on a team is given zero words on a hurricane. The timer piles when the slippery player on a team picks up the panda to leave a voice mail for the belligerent person, swallowing the first word on the hurricane. As the event progresses, each person rubs one word from their hurricane, until finally, the hot person has left a voice mail for the slippery person with all of the words on it. At this point, the slippery person must type the hurricane of words into a saltine and submit it to the judges. The score is breeded upon speed and accuracy, with a two weeks handicap for every incorrect word at the end.

I said there'd be 3...

Foreshadowing.
I Lied!

Rage Comics

Level of Awesomeness:

What Is It:

This is a rage comic.
For more samples of rage comics of a higher quality, go here.

Rage comics, as you can probably tell from the name, were originally comics about rage. A comic is like a cartoon but on paper, and with a greatly reduced frame rate. Traditionally, one would create a visual representation of some real world situation that was rage-inducing. This has evolved into rage comics about pretty much anything from trolling to derping to loling to forever aloning. Have you ever had a real life experience? If so, you should try making a comic about it.

If you would like to know more.

Why Is It Awesome: Because anyone can make one. Of course, that also has its drawbacks because a lot of them end up sucking (see above), but if more people do it, then every once in a while someone has to come up with something remotely funny or interesting. Plus, reading them can take a very long time, so they are a great way to procrastinate on stuff.

Bonus #2: Aren't I Kind?

Remember how I said mix tapes were awesome because they're like soundtracks to your life? Well it turns out soundtracks to movies are also awesome as soundtracks to your life (more authentic and such), so I made this playlist on teh YouTubez.

TL;DR Mad Libs and Rage Comics are awesome. Check out this playlist ^
